Girls are Athletes – Not Tomboys .. Part 2

Part 2:

I'm Eve's friend, and a "retired" Olympian.  I was on the 1988 Olympic Women's rowing team, and coached rowing rom 1982 on at UPenn, Harvard and University of NH until I switched to teaching in 1998.   My daughter now rows at Yale.

I LOVE that logo.  Do it.  I'll buy the shirt.

Part 1:

At BAGT we have many slogans, "You Wish You Could Kick Like a Girl", "You Wish You Could Ski Like A Girl". We have – "Girls Who Play Hockey, Make Goals", "Play Like A Girl", all kinds of sayings to empower girls. Borne out of a remark from one girl – who said to her mother. … Mom, the kids say I am a tomboy – Mom says, "Davis you are not a tomboy, you are an athlete". Bingo, our star saying was launched. I was reminded of that today after receiving an e-mail from a mother of two girls. She loves the saying, and thinks it would make a great shirt. It just may happen. Thanks to Eve from NH.

Our Cowgirls -- Don't Get The Blues

The BAGT cowgirl t -- one of our most popular right out of the gate, needs a new look and we are trying to think up color combinations -- black and white, blue and white.  You can see that I am truly not the one who should be picking the color!!  I need a little help from my friends.  Send me your thoughts, send me your ideas, if we pick your color combo -- well, there is a shirt in it for you.  A shirt of your choice. Yes!  A shirt of your choice and a sticker (of course). Think fast, we're out of the red cowgirl shirt!!

On Saturday, in Portland (Maine)...we had our first professional photo shoot.  It was so much fun and the pictures, WHAT can I say, they are really beautiful.  Take a good look -- and pick your favorite.  As for me, I couldn't possibly pick a favorite.

Our Ride shirts -- Jump, Dressage and Cowgirl are pretty much the most popular shirts in our collection.  We are looking at changing up the colors -- adding a new look for some of them and just changing things up a bit.

Ski Like A Girl

Meet our new friend Leilani (based out of Oregon).  

Ski Like A Girl     -- soon to be visiting Mt. Hood wearing all the appropriate attire! Looking forward to  having some great pictures to share.  Check out her blog and make a few new friends.

My father (my biggest fan)... was recently visiting the post office in Franklin, Maine -- when what should he see in the parking lot but a car with our Ride Like a Girl stickers (two of them).  Makes for a proud papa.  One of the stickers was dressage and one was the very popular jumping horse.  Thanks Dad for the update.

We also sent a basketball and soccer t to a coach in Trenton, Maine -- lets hope for some good results. 

     We are thinking of picking new colors for shirts -- send suggestions.   It's really hard to pick good colors.  Thanks to ML Style, we actually had a long-sleeve ski t.  Which turned out to be very popular.

Holidays - are on their way!

We are excited -- long-sleeve ski t's are on their way.  We have added a new shirt -- the gray ski t.  It looks really cute over a thermal and with a pair of jeans.  It could be our best seller.  Almost all of us at Be a Girl ski at Sugarloaf and honestly, I cannot wait to get up there!  Actually -- some of us ski and some of us snowboard (which is not for me)....BUT I do love skiing and horses and running.  Well, you get the idea.  I am getting the November newsletter ready and it should go out in a few days.

Oh, and Faye is having her Bat Mitzvahs this week end.  Faye is from CT, skis, skates and snowboards.  She is also on the board of Be A Girl and is great at helping us with colors and ideas.  Faye was up last week end and I gave her one of the new ski shirts, she looked pretty darn  cute in it.
