Maine Vacation -- with Be A Girl Today.

Faye and April -- last day of vacation.  I have always loved the blue jump t, with brown.  MurphyEmpire changed the design of the Kick T last year, it looks great.

Greetings From Maine

  • As Maine experiences a nice warm fall, it brought to mind a comment made by my late uncle, Bud Leavitt, a sportswriter for the Bangor Daily News.

"Maine is the only place on the continent where one can ski Sugarloaf in the morning, play an early round of golf in the day, then fish for landlocked salmon in the afternoon, and end your day fishing for Atlantic Salmon on the Maine Coast."

He supported women in sports, covered women's sports and would have been proud to sport a "Ride Like a Girl" bumper sticker.

Labor Day Week End at the Lake

Dscn1015 A few of my friends and I decided to take our canoes and kayaks out for a little ride on Donnell's Pond in Franklin, Maine.  It's a beautiful lake, clean, clear and not many power boats.  It was especially quiet on Labor Day Week End -- due to the Blue Hill Fair.  The lake was ours to conquer.  We decided that it would be fun to canoe to Sand Beach and then climb Schoodic Mountain.

Schoodic is a nice climb, fairly gradual with a beautiful view from the top.  You can see  Cadillac Mountain, Frenchman's Bay, Hog Bay and Taunton Bay....

My family has been climbing Schoodic for many years, somehow, it used to be a littler easier!  My legs were killing me going up AND coming down.   Lunch on the beach was the best, the paddle back was leisurely.  It's a wonderful thing to be able to hike up a mountain, ride in a canoe, eat on a beach.  I have to say -- it was a great day.  P1000747_2

The next day it is off to Stone Fox Farm for another picnic.  It's a party for Caitlin, back from Paris, but she can tell you all about that.
