No Cream Puffs

Great Summer Reading --

Book Review by Leah

Age 11, Cumberland, Maine

The book No Cream Puffs by Karen Day, is about a young girl named    Madison, who after a lunch room fist fight drifts apart from her friends.  She drifts away from lip gloss, mini skirts, high heels and hairspray.

She joins the town's baseball league and becomes a town star.  She is in newspapers, on tv and almost invincible!  All the time Madison spends with baseball pulls Madison farther away from her closest friend.

The book has the most believable problems, and is an awesome reminder that we girls aren't just a pretty face.  It helps motivate that part of your brain that keeps saying "I'll try out for the team next year" or "I'm a girl, I can't do that!"  It's about strong women and girls, friendship and believing in yourself.
